Monday-Friday   approx. 5:30-8:30 pm

ECB is offering a week-long Modern workshop taught by Cristin
Cawley, Libby Nye and Bo Parish. Experience this unique opportunity
to study a broad-spectrum approach to Modern dance from classical
to contemporary. Discover the flowing and expansive Limon technique with former Limon principal dancer, Libby Nye. Find power in the use of gravity, fall and recovery, and the interplay between weight and weightlessness. Learn to use momentum to explode off the floor effortlessly and be carried into jumps, spins and dips. In classes with Cristin Cawley, a graduate of SUNY Purchase and former student at the Paul Taylor School and Limon Institute, learn to play with balance, isolation, weight transfers, contraction and release. Come to understand what it is like to transition from a tight turn to an open layout, to bring unexpected level changes to a combination, to create moments of stillness and to find beauty in contrasts. Bo Parish combines classical training from the Boston Conservatory, Boston University and Tslila Goldstein and Dancers, with more contemporary work of inversion and release techniques. Realize what it’s like to sometimes turn traditional technique on its head, without sacrificing its integrity. Learn to seek the meaning behind movement as you sweep, drop, tip, roll, jump and have fun!
